  • Can I apply for a shared apartment with my friend and how do we apply?

    Yes, but in that case, both of the rooms of the apartment should become available at the same time which happens very seldom. Both applicants will fill in their own application form, and the wish to share an apartment is noted under “More information”. Also family apartments are available if there are no families applying. In this case both applicants have to be students.

  • Can I apply for an apartment before the acceptance to a school has been confirmed?

    If you are studying at the University of Oulu, the acceptance information is transferred to PSOAS automatically so there is no need to bring the certificate. However, if you are studying at the Oulu University of Applied Sciences, the registration certificate must be presented at the latest when signing the housing documents.

  • Can people already living in the PSOAS apartments switch apartments?

    Unfortunately not. It is fair that the apartments are given out in the queuing order. There can be other people waiting for the same apartment on the waiting list.

  • Does a medical certificate, personal situation etc. affect the waiting list?

    Unfortunately not. All applicants have an equal opportunity to get an apartment in the order of arriving applications, which means that the person waited the longest will get an offer first.

  • How long is an application valid and how to renew it?

    Housing applications are valid for 60 days and can be renewed by contacting the PSOAS accommodation office on asuntotoimisto@nullpsoas.fi. For exchange students, however, the process is different and applications are valid as long as an offer has been made or no vacancies are left.

  • What to do if my application is no longer valid?

    The applicant must leave a new application because the computer programme automatically deletes all the applications older than 60 days.

  • Where am I in the waiting list and when can I expect to be offered an apartment?

    Unfortunately, the programme does not give information on the applicant’s location in the waiting list, so there is no direct answer to the question. The apartments will be given in the order of arriving applications. When your application is valid, we will contact you as soon as a suitable apartment becomes available. The time of the offer cannot be predicted because, for example, the number of terminating rental agreements varies.
